How LBY Music Turned a College Project into a Global Humanitarian Mission

Formed in the spring of 2013, LBY Music was founded from the vision of Watson Tunez, a hip-hop and pop rap recording artist and singer from the Caribbean Island of Haiti. The collective's initial lineup included friends Watson met during his freshman year at Anderson University in the state of Indiana. They united to create an album for earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, following the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince, claiming over 200,000 lives and leaving more than a million people homeless. The funds raised from their music supported local charities in rebuilding Haiti and providing crucial medical assistance and education during the crisis.

Beyond producing the album and recruiting artists, Watson established a record label, Beyond Me Entertainment to further promote humanitarian hip-hop and positive pop-rap. He forged partnerships with key organizations such as the Drew Brees Dream Foundation, Lifting Up Haiti, Mud Ministry, and Cascade DAfo. These organizations supported LBY Music’s initiatives, matching the group’s musical efforts with donations.LBY Music gained traction with the release of its first EP, Beyond Me Haiti, in the fall of 2014. This success was bolstered by several live performances, pop-up concerts, and campus events that increased their popularity. By May 2015, Watson had completed and released the official compilation beneficial album, also titled, Beyond Me: Haiti. In 2021, Watson debuted his first official solo album, Long Way to Go, under Beyond Me Entertainment. He continued to perform locally in the Indianapolis area and market his music online. Today, LBY Music thrives, with various artists frequently contributing to Watson’s tracks, collaborating on songwriting, music production, and providing vocal support, maintaining the collective's mission to promote humanitarian causes through music.
